4 Contestants Remain in Game to Win a 2017 Hyundai Tucson SE FWD
6 Contestants off in the Hyundai "Hands On" Contest

WASHINGTON, Feb. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Just one night remains in the Hyundai "Hands On" Contest, which pitted 10 participants in a 117-hour challenge of stamina, ability and luck before a winner is selected.

Six contestants have already lost contact with the prized vehicle. The contest began at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31 and runs through tomorrow at noon.

To determine the winner with four contestants remaining, there will be a random drawing of car keys—one of which will start the ignition and claim the Hyundai Tucson. It will be an emotional moment—and a great visual with the Auto Show crowds watching.

"The Hands-On Contest is a beloved tradition of The Washington Auto Show® that puts the thrill of a new car within grasp of our contestants – and engages countless others in their quest," said Kevin Reilly, president of Alexandria Hyundai and board member of the Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association, producer of The Washington Auto Show®.

This year's contestants were selected from hundreds of applicants by The Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association. Contestant bios are posted on The Washington Auto Show® website (washingtonautoshow.com).

The remaining contestants are:

  • George Abbott, 44, federal government employee, Springfield, VA
  • David Dow, 34, real estate associate, Washington, DC
  • Robert Karns, 49, teacher, Clarksburg, MD
  • Kimberly Walker, 46, child care center owner, Silver Spring, MD

Up for grabs this year is the 2017 Hyundai Tucson SE FWD, boasting safety features such as a rearview camera, driver's blind spot mirror, and brake assist, which have earned the vehicle its top overall vehicle safety score of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Contest rules require that all participants keep their hands or any body part on the Hyundai for the duration of the contest (excluding sanctioned breaks). The Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association has complete judging and management authorization on behalf of all sponsors.
