2018 Washington Auto Show To Feature Nightly Autograph Appearances from Popular Local Sports Stars

WASHINGTON, Jan. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2018 Washington Auto Show is excited to announce that this year's show will feature autograph appearances from some of the Washington area's most popular and prominent sports stars.

Each weekday evening, from Mon., Jan. 29 through Thurs., Feb. 1, show attendees will be able to get an autograph and a picture with a well-known sports star from each of the city's major professional sports teams. The sports star appearances will be located right in the middle of the show floor, in Hall B, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each evening.

The sports stars appearing at the show include:

  • Mon., Jan. 29: Tom Wilson, Right Winger, Washington Capitals
  • Tue., Jan. 30: Josh Norman, Cornerback, Washington Redskins
  • Wed., Jan. 31: Otto Porter, Forward, Washington Wizards
  • Thu., Feb. 1: Dave Martinez, Manager, Washington Nationals

In addition, cheerleaders from the Capitals, Redskins, and Wizards will be on-site at the show during their respective theme days. On Monday, Capitals fans will also get the chance to meet team legend Rod Langway and mascot SlapShot, while Porter will be joined on Wednesday by Wizards mascot G-Wiz, and fan favorite Gheorghe Muresan, who played for the franchise in the late 1990s and who is known for being one of the tallest players in NBA history.

Martinez's appearance on Thursday will mark one of his first major public appearances since being named the Nationals' manager in November. Martinez previously served as a bench coach for the Chicago Cubs, serving in that role during their 2016 World Series championship run.

"The Washington Auto Show is one of the premier public events in the region, and we are excited to be partnering with the sports teams that connect people from all walks of life, across the Mid-Atlantic," said show President and CEO John O'Donnell. "This programming is a truly unique experience for attendees to meet not just their favorite athletes, but to connect with the teams they love in a unique setting. We know that fans will have a night to remember, each night of the week."
